Job Title: HVAC Service Technician

Primary Job Function:

Identifying repair and/or replacement needs and repairing/servicing HVAC equipment (in accordance with industry best practices) in multi/single family homes and light commercial buildings. Repairs will follow proper code and Carter Heating and Cooling rigid quality standards. Must report to work on time and ready to work.

Work Hours: 7:00am – 4:00pm CST; some overtime required during peak season

Reports to: Lead Service Technician

Required Qualifications:

  • Current HVAC Journeyman License or comparable experience
  • 5+ years experience in HVAC service and repair preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Able to follow verbal and written directions as given
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean motor vehicle record
  • Must be drug-free and be able to pass new-hire and random drug testing.
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • Motivated to invest time into training to advance certification level
  • Capable of following all Safety Guidelines
    • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely
    • Can work in situations requiring heights and tight working conditions from extension and step ladders.
    • Can work using full range of body motions to include: climbing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, reaching, lifting, bending, twisting

Essential Functions:

  • Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in HVAC systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement
  • Repair/service HVAC equipment based upon diagnostic findings
  • Cleans air conditioning and heating units (e.g. coils, condensation pans, drain lines, cooling towers, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring units are operating efficiently, correctly and within safety guidelines
  • Follow instructions from Lead Service Technician and perform duties in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times
  • Develop customer service, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to use and/or learn scheduling software
  • Arrive at job site at scheduled time and location as dispatched
  • Operate company vehicle as needed and report any problems with company vehicles promptly
  • Unload truck supplies and equipment and report any problems with company tools promptly
  • Participate in and attend employee meetings and trainings
  • Other duties as assigned
